Installing iCompta 6: A Review of Its Features and Conversion Process

In recent updates, iCompta 6 has introduced a new feature called QuickFill, which aims to improve auto-categorization of downloaded and manually entered transactions. As someone with years of experience using Quicken 2007's reporting feature, I was excited to try out the latest version. However, my initial impressions were not entirely positive.

While iCompta 6 has some nifty features, it still needs work in certain areas. One major issue is the calculation of four-digit gains, which can be misleading due to incomplete transactions. For example, I have encountered instances where an ROI is calculated despite missing Buy or Sell components. The stock transaction reports are also unclear about how these numbers are derived.

Another concern is the lack of release notes and manual updates for recent updates. As a user, it's frustrating not to receive notifications about changes or fixes. I have reported 10 bugs to iCompta Support, but unfortunately, there has been zero feedback on resolving these issues.

In my experience converting from Managing Your Money (MYM) to iCompta 6, I encountered several difficulties. The MYM conversion tools do not support split and stock transactions, making the process even more challenging. Additionally, I have over 10 years of Quicken files spread across multiple versions and platforms, which has added complexity to my conversions.

Overall, while iCompta 6 may be a viable option for those starting anew or performing simple conversions, it falls short in terms of functionality and support for experienced users like myself.
